TITUSVILLE, FLA. (September 14, 2018)—Extraordinary plans are underway for Jess Parrish Medical Foundation’s (JPMF) annual benefit gala, Fly Me to the Moon, which takes place on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 5-10 p.m. at Cruise Terminal One, Port Canaveral. GrayRobinson, P.A., and William and Laura Boyles are presenting sponsors for the event.
More than 400 guests are expected to attend and “play among the stars” with the beauty of the celestial evening recreating the 1960s Golden Era of Space. While taking in picturesque views of one of the busiest cruise ports in the world, guests will enjoy cocktails and cicchetti (Italian-style tapas), amidst the al fresco ambiance of a twinkling starry night. An interactive virtual reality experience and an “out of this world” silent auction are sure to make this evening one you will never forget.
Dinner will be a delectable Italian feast with Space Coast Jazzcats serenading gala guests with sounds from the past and present, featuring a performance by NASA astronaut and trumpeter, Capt. Winston Scott. After dinner, guests can dance the night away in ’60s style with the swing sensations of the 15-piece Space Coast Big Band.
Event proceeds will benefit mental and behavioral health initiatives in Brevard County by providing:
- Help for Teens: Sources of Strength, a teen health and wellness program focused on preventing suicide, bullying, substance abuse and self-harm will be expanded to select private and charter schools in North Brevard.
- Help for Parents of Young Children: The Incredible Years® parenting program will provide parents with the tools to increase positive social, emotional behaviors in their children, thereby leading to improved life-skills as adults.
- Help at Work: Wellness workshops for local businesses to teach employees how to navigate through life’s ups and downs.
- Help for Individuals with Disabilities: Expansion of services to provide education, social skill development, emotional regulation, and increased independence.
“It is our honor and privilege to once again be the presenting sponsor of this important event,” said William A. Boyles, shareholder at GrayRobinson, P.A. “We believe in Parrish Medical Center’s vision of Healing Families—Healing Communities® and look forward to helping expand mental and behavioral health services in the community.”
"Our theme this year is fun, yet very intentional,” says Holly Carver, event co-chair and mission chair. “Each person is like a star in the sky—there are millions—each one unique. Our goal is to bring awareness to and provide action steps for those suffering with depression and/or mental illness. Shining the bright light of the full moon on these issues, reminding us that we are not alone in this vast universe, that it's okay to not be okay, and that there is help closer than you think."
