JPMF Golf Classic Drives Results for Early Childhood Education

Local residents came together for the Jess Parrish Medical Foundation (JPMF) “Fran Gerrett Memorial Golf Classic” on Friday, April 22 at La Cita Golf & Country Club and The Great Outdoors Golf Club. The event was presented by the law firm of Zumpano Patricios & Winker, P.A. and raised over $71,000 for The Children’s Center (TCC) in Titusville, exceeding the goal by more than $6,000.

“We believe in continuing the foundation’s mission of providing healing experiences to families throughout Brevard County. The Fran Gerrett Memorial Golf Classic’s success shows how the community has continued to support TCC so they can build stronger families for life,” said Joseph I. Zumpano, managing shareholder at Zumpano Patricios & Winker, P.A.

More than 220 golfers and volunteers participated in the two-course tournament with all proceeds benefiting TCC, a service of Parrish Medical Center, which provides families with special needs and/or typically developing children with numerous health, therapy, education and child development programs in a single location. The annual golf tournament lives on as a tribute to Fran Gerrett’s longtime dedication to our community and his favorite charity. Fran, a former Parrish Medical Center Materials Management director, was famous for saying, “It’s all about the kids!”

The committee secured 48 sponsorships from numerous community members and organizations. Platinum sponsors include: RUSH Construction, Inc. Gold sponsors include: Medline Industries, Inc.; Susan Morse, Senior Vice President and Steve Soltesz, Financial Advisor, Indian River Wealth Management Group. The men’s first place teams include: Dr. Douglas Boler, Gary Fichardt and John Stewart at La Cita Country Club; Mark Anderson, Jim McDonald, Charlie Shulby and Steve Wright at The Great Outdoors. The mixed first place teams include: Chris Cole, Herman Cole, Joyce Cole and Rob Stribling at La Cita Country Club; Amy Craddock, Michael Hogue, Jason Lanthorne and Michael Liuzzi at The Great Outdoors. The women’s first place team included: Martha Hannah, Jan Henderson, Toni Thigpin and Suzanne Yarbrough at The Great Outdoors.

“We’d like to thank all our sponsors, golfers, committee members and volunteers who helped us exceed our goal and make this event a huge success for the children in our community,” said Barbara Terhune, chair of the Jess Parrish Medical Foundation Board of Directors.

Event co-chairs are Kathy Myer and Greg Sparkman. Other members of the golf committee included: Santi Bulnes, Amy Craddock, Anita Currie, Lori Duester, Leigh Gerrett, Amy Lord, Esther Porta, Tina Spangler-Phillips, Robert Wildermuth, Misty Wilson and Suzanne Yarbrough.

With months of preparation and planning, the Fran Gerrett Memorial Golf Classic was a huge success, exceeding the goal by over $6,000.
