The Titusville Fire & Emergency Services Department presented Jess Parrish Medical Foundation (JPMF) with a check for $1,500. Proceeds will benefit cancer care programs at Parrish Medical Center (PMC).
“Our department is focused on giving back to the community and wanted to raise money that stays in Brevard County. When we heard about the cancer care programs and services provided by Parrish Medical Center, we knew that this was the right organization to receive the donation.” said Mike Woodward, City of Titusville fire chief.
While on duty, over 60 employees in the Titusville Fire Department wore pink t-shirts with the message “Firefighters for a Cure!” during the month of October for breast cancer awareness. “The community loved seeing the firefighters wearing pink and supporting a great cause. We decided to sell the t-shirts as a fundraiser and the community embraced it. Thanks to a team effort we were able to raise funds to help breast cancer patients,” said Gregory Sutton, City of Titusville EMS/training battalion chief.
Several members from the Titusville Department presented the check to Gloria Velez, PMC director of service line development; Marsha Richardson, PMC clinical nurse consultant for medical/surgical oncology; Misty Wilson, director of Jess Parrish Medical Foundation; and Shannon Luker, PMC breast health navigator and oncology program coordinator.
“We know that being diagnosed with cancer is a difficult time for patients and their families. A breast health navigator who works directly with patients to coordinate care, free supplies through our Cancer Care Boutique and mammograms for underinsured or noninsured patients are just a few examples of the services available as a resource to cancer patients though our cancer care program. We are very thankful for this generous and heartfelt donation,” said Velez. For more information, please contact Jess Parrish Medical Foundation at 321-269-4066 or visit parrishmedfoundation.com.
