#GivingTuesday - The Children's Center Friendship Bench

On December 2, 2014, #GivingTuesday harnesses the power of social media to create a national movement around the holidays dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are, today, synonymous with holiday shopping. #GivingTuesday is a day for everyone, everywhere, to GIVE!

This year’s project will benefit The Children’s Center by providing them a Friendship Bench from Tiny Girl, Big Dream, Inc. which promotes character development and spreads the message of kindness and empathy to children. The founder, a 12-year-old little girl, believes that if we can begin to put the spotlight on all of the goodness, random acts of kindness, and yes, friendship, then we will begin to see a brighter more vibrant world. She founded the company in 2012 with a goal of placing friendship kits into every school across the United States and through kindness and friendship push bullying and violence out of our schools and communities.

We’re also asking social media followers to share what they’re doing on this international day of giving by taking an #UNselfie (photo of a person volunteering, or stating how they get involved with their community) and posting on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
